Newly-promoted Serie A side Monza are targeting Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia on a free transfer during the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Lombard team have identified Ranocchia as a player to strengthen their defense for life in the top flight.

Ranocchia’s current contract with the Nerazzurri is set to run out at the end of the month, although it is not yet confirmed that the club will not extend his deal by a further season per an option in his deal.

However, Monza would be keen on the 34-year-old, whose experience in the top flight could help them make the adjustment following promotion from Serie B.

Meanwhile, the Lombards also look set to complete the signing of former Inter and Lazio winger Antonio Candreva from Sampdoria for next season as they look to add experience to their team.
