Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is fascinated with the idea of the club re-signing Romelu Lukaku this summer and is pushing for it to happen.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 46-year-old coach is preoccupied with the idea of getting a chance to work with the Belgian who he had thought slipped through his fingers last summer.

When Inzaghi joined Inter from last summer, he will have believed that he would be building his Nerazzurri attack around Lukaku, who few anticipated would leave before Chelsea’s massive offer arrived in the final month of the transfer window.

The coach managed the situation well, with Inter’s attack having been the strongest in Serie A even without Lukaku, but he is still a big admirer of the 29-year-old and believes that he is a complete striker who could take Inter’s attack to the next level.

Inzaghi’s interest is a driving force for the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of Lukaku, and as long as there is a possibility on the table of an improbable return by the Belgian the coach will continue to hope.
