Manchester United have asked Inter for information about the availability of defender Alessandro Bastoni.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Red Devils are the latest club to be seriously interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Bastoni had emerged as a major target for Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the transfer window, although at the moment the Lilywhites appear to have turned their attention to Villarreal defender Pau Torres as their main alternative to Bastoni.

However, the interest from the Premier League remains, with newly-appointed United coach Erik Ten Hag a fan of Bastoni and having asked the club to see if a move for him is possible.

So far, no formal offer has arrived for Bastoni from United, and the Nerazzurri would put an asking price of at the very least €60 million on the 23-year-old, but they are serious and would step up their pursuit if they feel that a deal is possible.
