Manchester United have made Inter defender Stefan de Vrij a target for the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Red Devils are ready to step up in their efforts to take the 30-year-old to the Premier League.

Inter are preparing for the possibility of a significant revamp to their defense this summer and losing at least one first-choice central defender, and de Vrij has long been a candidate for a sale this summer.

The Dutchman’s current contract is set to expire at the end of June 2023, and if he and the club do not agree an extension beyond this date then a sale would appear to be all but inevitable.

United are one of the teams most keen to sign the Dutchman as they plot a defensive rebuild of their own for new coach Erik Ten Hag, and they could make the Nerazzurri an offer soon.
