Marcelo Brozovic, Milan Skriniar, and Nicolo Barella are the main candidates to inherit the captain’s armband from Samir Handanovic at Inter when the Slovenian leaves the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that it looks to be a three-way race to succeed Handanovic as captain.

Handanovic will remain Inter’s captain next season, as the 37-year-old is all set to extend his contract for another season, but the end of his time at the club is nevertheless likely on the horizon.

The goalkeeper has been the captain at Inter for the past several season since taking over the armband from Mauro Icardi, while the candidates to succeed him appear to be Brozivic, Skriniar, and Barella.

Brozovic had been the player to wear the armband when Handanovic was missing through injury in the clash with Bologna in April, and the Croat is the player who has been at the player the longest of the candidates, but Skriniar and Barella would also be serious candidates.
