Former Inter youngster Wilfried Gnonto has said that he felt at home at Inter and he does not know if he will ever return, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview on the QSVS YouTube channel, via FCInternews, he talked about how he did feel at home at Inter but he felt it was best for his family if he pursued the move to FC Zurich where he could get senior football.

“I was at Inter, I was always very well. I was at home, but at that time my family and I thought that this was the best choice for us and for my career.

“Of course, it was difficult at the beginning because Switzerland is another country, with a new language and then there was a new team, but now I am very happy with the choice. Maybe if I had stayed in Italy I wouldn’t have made it to the national team so soon.”

He has risen to prominence in the media recently after being picked by Roberto Mancini for the Italy national team and then scoring in a recent Nations League game.

That has led many to suggest that Inter should try and sign him once again but he said he does not know if he will ever play for the Nerazzurri again having left when still in the Primavera side.

“In life you never know, I am an Inter fan. Everyone knows by now. But of course, now I have to think about my career and make the right choices. One day you never know, but for the moment I’m not thinking about it too much.”

He also added that Lautaro Martinez is a player he really admires at Inter: “There are so many top players at Inter. The one I liked a little bit more and I still like him now is Lautaro Martinez.

“I always liked him a lot and when I was there I even had the chance to train with him a couple of times and see him up close.”
