Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini has asked for more playing time next season, while coach Simone Inzaghi has indicated that he does not want to sell the 28-year-old.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the coach feels that Gagliardini has a unique profile within the squad and would be reluctant to lose him.

Gagliardini did not feature regularly in Inter’s starting eleven during the season just gone, but Inzaghi did rely on the midfielder in certain games, either from the start or from the bench, when he wanted to inject some physicality into his midfield.

The former Atalanta midfielder’s stamina, size, and ability in the air are not really something which any other midfielder at the club can currently replicate.

The coach would not want to sell Gagliardini, but the player has asked clearly for more playing time and would like to find a new club for next season if he will not play more regularly at Inter next season.
