Inter striker Sebastiano Esposito is set to join Anderlecht on loan for the upcoming season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Belgian giants are close to completing a deal to sign the 19-year-old on loan and could sign him permanently afterwards.

Esposito spent last season on loan with Basel, but the Swiss side declined to exercise an option to sign the young striker permanently due to financial reasons, asking the Nerazzurri instead if they could loan him for another season under the same terms.

The Nerazzurri were lukewarm on this possibility, and have preferred to find a new club for Esposito, who had spent the season on loan in Serie B with SPAL and then Venezia in the prior campaign.

Teams in Italy have come forward with an interest in Esposito, but it looks to be Anderlecht who have won the race for his signature.
