Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi has conformed that Kristjan Asllani will be joining Inter to show that he can play at that level, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with Radio Sportiva, via FCInternews, Fabrizio Corsi talked about how he met with the Albanian midfielder’s father recently and they talked about how proud they are of the 21-year-old.

“A few days ago we met with Kristjan’s father. He showed happiness, but also great sorrow at leaving our club, where he has been since he was eight years old.”

He then effectively confirmed the transfer that has not been made official by either club yet by saying that he looks forward to seeing the player in the Champions League.

“We left with a lot of emotion, now he will go on a journey to prove he is at the level of Inter. It will be a thrill to see him play in the Champions League. My thoughts go back to my father who took Benito Lorenzi to Empoli and then accompanied him to Inter.”

Kristjan Asllani has been a target for the Nerazzurri since before the previous season ended and the club have secured a one-year loan which will then be made permanent at the end of the season.

He is viewed as finally being the backup for Marcelo Brozovic in the midfield and the man who can eventually replace him.
