Inter-owned goalkeeper Filip Stankovic is set to stay another season at Volendam on loan following their promotion to the Eredivisie, and for his part he has no doubt that it’s the right move.

Speaking after the club’s first training session, as reported by FCInterNews, Stankovic explained that he has already told the Nerazzurri that continuing his development on loan with the Dutch club is his preference.

Stankovic is hardly the first Inter player to have spent time out on loan with Volendam, with striker Samuele Mulattieri having had a season there on loan in the campaign before last, whilst Gaetano Pio Oristanio was a teammate of the Serb last season.

Stankovic and Oristanio helped the Dutch side to promotion to the top flight, and now he is set to remain there to be part of their bid to keep themselves in the Eredivisie.

Asked about his thoughts on the renewed loan, Stankovic said that “I knew that I’d be back here. In Italy they asked if I wanted to stay and I said yes.”
