Chelsea could turn their attention to Inter defender Stefan de Vrij if they miss out on signing Milan Skriniar to Paris Saint-Germain.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Blues have lined up the 30-year-old as an alternative to his fellow Nerazzurri defender.

Chelsea must work to sign top-quality central defenders this summer after the departures of several players from the position in their starting eleven on free transfers.

Skriniar has emerged as one of the top names on their list, but they will face fierce competition for his signature in the form of PSG who have already been trying to push for the Slovakian’s signing.

Should the Londoners fail to sign Skriniar, however, they may not have to look too far for an alternative defensive signing, as they are also very keen on de Vrij and could sign him instead.
