Former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga has played down the suggestions from some Inter fans that others should not be welcoming Romelu Lukaku back so well, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Sky Sport, via FCInter1908, Walter Zenga assessed the situation surrounding Romelu Lukaku’s return to the Nerazzurri on loan from Chelsea.

He has returned just one year after surprising many fans and accepting a move to Chelsea for a fee of €115 million. Some fans thought he had done this for financial gain and they are not finding it so easy to welcome him back to the club with open arms.

Walter Zenga suggested that people have to forgive and forget when there are feelings involved, given Romelu Lukaku has a special relationship with Chelsea since his youth.

“You have to forgive and forget when feelings are involved. Lukaku is the classic player who makes it if he is the centre of attention and Conte would have wanted him and Dzeko together. Now it’s all up to him to prove it.”

The Belgian forward was a fan favourite before the move as he was instrumental in the Scudetto win under Antonio Conte.
