Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has said that Romelu Lukaku is a great striker and suggested that Inter could come back in for Davide Frattesi, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

Speaking during an interview with Corriere dello Sport today, the CEO discussed a range of transfer issues surrounding his club which is a hotbed of young talent in Italy.

One of the players most heavily linked with a move away from the Neroverdi is young midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The club best placed to sign him is AS Roma who are close to an agreement with Sassuolo. Giovanni Carnevali suggested that if he is not sold this summer, Inter will reignite their interest in the midfielder next summer as they were heavily linked towards the end of the season.

“Inter were the first to ask us about Frattesi and I know that the Nerazzurri directors like him a lot. Maybe next season, if he has not been sold during this summer window, Inter will try to buy him again.”

Giovanni Carnevali is good friends with Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and he was asked if he congratulated him for the return of Romelu Lukaku.

“Of course I did. It was an important operation done by the most important Italian manager. Lukaku is really a great striker.”
