Boca Juniors head coach Sebastian Battaglia makes no secret of the fact that Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal is a target for the Argentine club.

Speaking in a post-match press conference after his team’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Banfield, Battaglia addressed the transfer links to Vidal, noting that there are talks to sign the 35-year-old, and that while he isn’t sure what will happen he would be happy if the signing happened.

Boca have emerged as one of the most serious clubs interested in Vidal, whose departure from Inter has been widely expected for some time, but whose next destination is not yet known.

The Argentine giants will try and offload Venezuelan forward Jan Hurtado so that they are able to have a slot open for a foreign player, and then they are expected to try and move for Vidal.

Of the pursuit of the Chilean, Battaglia stated that “They informed me that there have been talks, but I didn’t have the opportunity to talk to them.”

“We already know what kind of player Vidal is and what it would mean for us and for Argentine football,” he said of the possible signing. “We’re very excited about his possible arrival at Boca.”
