Former Atalanta head coach Bortolo Mutti feels that Inter striker Andrea Pinamonti would be the perfect player for his old club to take up the mantle of Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel in attack.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Mutti gave his thoughts on the 23-year-old, who is reported to be a major transfer target for La Dea this summer.
Pinamonti’s form on loan with Empoli meant that his value increased significantly, and with it the likelihood that Inter will cash in on him this summer.
No shortage of clubs, both within Serie A and also abroad, have been linked with a move for the striker, and Atalanta are currently the team reported to be pushing the hardest to sign him.
There is still a way to go for La Dea to convince the Nerazzurri on a move for Pinamonti, but Mutti is a big fan of the player and understands why they are so keen to make him a part of their squad for next season.
“Pinamonti has done well,” the former coach said, “he’s a young man who is maturing, and Atalanta could be the right place for him to take the next step.”
“If they lose one out of Muriel or Zapata it’s clear that they must sign a top player to be a point of reference in attack, and Pinamonti could be it,” he added.
