Inter are the club best-placed to complete a deal to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who report that the Nerazzurri are leading the way in the chase for the 24-year-old’s signature, as they have identified him as a key defensive reinforcement.

Inter are likely to sell Milan Skriniar and possibly also Stefan de Vrij this summer, having already lost Andrea Ranocchia on a free transfer, and so there is a need for defensive reinforcements, even with Torino’s Bremer also a player they are working to sign.

Milenkovic is the name at the top of the Nerazzurri’s list, and they are poised to get a deal done for the Serb once they get some outgoing transfer business out of the way.

There is other transfer interest in Milenkovic, with several of Serie A’s top clubs considering a move for him, but at the moment it is Inter who are leading the way.
