Italian journalist Carlo Festa believes that Bahraini fund Investcorp are not currently interested in buying Inter from Suning despite reports suggesting that they could be.

Reporting in a tweet, the journalist with Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore wrote that sources close to the fund have denied the interest.

Inter have been persistently linked with a sale from current owners Suning, and the latest parties linked with an interest in purchasing them include Investcorp.

The Bahraini fund had been in talks with Inter’s city rivals AC Milan earlier in the spring, before the negotiations fell through and US-based fund RedBird Capital ended up purchasing the Rossoneri from former owners Elliott Management instead.

However, reports today suggested that InvestCorp’s interest in taking over a big Italian club may not have ended there, and that they could look to the other side of the Milan derby divide to take over a team in Serie A.

However, Festa put the brakes on these rumours, writing that “Sources close to Investcorp tell me that they’re not considering buying Inter.”
