Legendary former Juventus midfielder and Inter coach Marco Tardelli believes that AC Milan remain the favourites to win the Serie A title.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Tardelli gave the view that the Rossoneri’s experience from last season makes them the team best-placed to defend their title, whilst he considers Juventus the likeliest team to upset them.

Already the predictions are being made as to which team will win the Scudetto next season, with the Rossoneri naturally among the favourites as the defending champions, whilst the Nerazzurri are also widely considered as plausible favourites.

Inter’s experience winning the title the season before last and then finishing in a narrow second place last time around, as well as the arrival of Romelu Lukaku among other signings has led many to expect that they will make a title charge,

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri are always in contention despite having finished fourth during the past two campaigns, whilst teams like Lazio, Napoli, Atalanta, and Roma are always seen as dark horses.

For his part, Tardelli sees the Rossoneri as the favourites before the season kicks off, and also believes that Juventus could reclaim their crown after two seasons without it.

“Milan are out in front because they just won the Scudetto, and because they’re a team who are in the midst of strengthening themselves,” he argued.

“Then there’s the big unknown in the form of Juventus,” he continued, “but for me they can be the surprise of the season. If they use their players in the right positions and get back some injured players, they could be the team that trouble Milan the most.”
