Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has been publicly downplaying the extend of the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of Paulo Dybala in order to keep things under the radar.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri executive has been circumspect in statements about the links to the player in order to avoid too much expectations and attention, but wants to keep the real negotiations more quiet.
Marotta spoke about Marotta today during the Nerazzurri’s pre-season press conference, speaking about the 28-year-old by suggesting that his availability on a free transfer is an opportunity that the club are interested in but that they also feel they are well set-up in attack already.
However, the CEO’s main objective is to avoid arousing too much speculation or expectation that a deal will be done, or that it will get wrapped up at a particular point.
For Marotta, the negotiations with Dybala and his representatives are delicate, and he does not want them to take place out in the open or to create controversy and media frenzy.
Things are still difficult for the Nerazzurri to get the deal done right away, but the CEO does not want the real negotiations to get overshadowed by public spectacle, so he has not said too much in recent statements regarding Dybala.
