Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has said that it is worth waiting till the transfer market is over before labelling Inter as the favourites for the Scudetto, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Corriere della Sera, Alessandro Costacurta tried to temper expectations among many that Inter are now the clear favourites to win the Scudetto next season after the signings they have made already.

“Last year there was a greater balance between the various pretenders, especially considering the disposals of Lukaku and Hakimi.

“Napoli and Atalanta were also in the running. Now before awarding favourites labels I would wait to see how the market develops considering that Di Maria and Pogba are arriving in Turin in these hours.”

It was put to Alessandro Costacurta that Inter are the team with the most complete and balanced squad right now in Serie A and he conceded that they have reinforced the best so far this summer.

“At the moment it is the one that has been reinforced the best. Romelu is the star, but then two greats like Mkhitaryan and Asllani arrived.”

He also added that he is surprised to see Paulo Dybala still unable to train with a new team as it seemed clear he would be signed by Inter early in the window.

“Quite, but then again it seems to me that, of all the pretenders, Inter are the ones who need him the least: in Europe they cannot afford a formation with Lukaku, Lautaro and Dybala together. At AC Milan and Napoli he would be more useful: if he was consistent he would be decisive.”
