Inter captain Samir Handanovic has already signed his contract extension until the end of June 2023, but the club have been waiting to announce it until today as it is the tenth anniversary of his arrival from Udinese.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the goalkeeper’s contract extension has been done for some time and that the Nerazzurri plan to officially announce it today.

Handanovic’s previous deal had run out at the end of last month, but it had been anticipated for some time that the 37-year-old will stay at least one more season.

The Slovenian will have already put pen to paper on the extension prior to the expiration of his previous contract on June 30, but the club have been holding off on the official announcement to wait for an important anniversary.

Today marks exactly ten years since the Slovenian was signed from Udinese, and the Nerazzurri will take the occasion as an opportunity to announce that his time as an Inter player is not yet done.
