Legendary former Juventus, Wolfsburg, and Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli believes that the Bianconeri have strengthened more than Inter have during the summer transfer window so far.
Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the former defender argued that while Romelu Lukaku improves the Nerazzurri quite a bit, the arrivals of both Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria reinforces Juventus’s squad a little more.
The teams at the top of Serie A have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer, with Lukaku’s shock return to Inter after one season at Chelsea having perhaps been the most high-profile deal.
However, the Bianconeri have rivalled that move by bringing back a former player of their own after a mixed spell in the Premier League, signing Pogba on a free transfer from Manchester United.
Barzagli feels that the addition of Di Maria in addition to Pogba means that the Turin giants have actually strengthened more this window.
“They’ve improved more with Pogba and Di Maria because there’s two players coming in,” he said of the Bianconeri.
“Lukaku has shown that he can make a difference in Serie A, but the two Juventus signings add the kind of personality and quality that was a bit lacking last season,” he added. “Pogba and Di Maria will make Juventus great again.”
