Legendary former Juventus, Wolfsburg, and Palermo defender Andrea Barzagli feels that it is surprising that Paulo Dybala has still not been snapped up by a new club this summer after leaving the Bianconeri.

Speaking to Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Barzagli gave the view that the 28-year-old could be well-served by making a move to a club outside of Serie A, amid links to Inter and other teams in Italy.

Dybala’s future is yet to be settled, with the Nerazzurri having at one point looked right on the verge of signing him but now stalled in their pursuit, whether it is a permanent or temporary delay.

Barzagli is surprised to see a player of Dybala’s quality without a club at this point in the summer transfer window, but believes that wherever the Argentine ends up he will be able to show his quality.

“It seems strange to me to see Paulo without a team on July 10,” the former defender said. “The whole transfer window has been strange, with top players not snapped up at the deadline.”

“I’m curious to see where La Joya goes,” he continued.”I’d like to see him move abroad, to a league where he’d find more space. It would also be a new experience. But Dybala is Dybala – I think he’ll do well wherever he goes.”
