The displays of newly-signed midfielder Kristjan Asllani have been an early highlight of Inter’s preseason preparations, and he is convincing many within the club that he could be the ideal backup to both Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 20-year-old looks to have the qualities to play a multifunctional role within the Nerazzurri’s midfield next season.
Asllani arrived from Empoli last week, with Inter having been pursuing the Albanian for some time as their priority target to provide a backup to Brozovic in the squad.
A player with the right profile to deputize for the Croat was a major item on the Nerazzurri’s shopping list for the summer given how they struggled when he was absent last season, and Asllani has been seen as having the right characteristics and also being young enough to grow into the team.
However, the 20-year-old may not just be a player for the future if his early displays in training are anything, as he has shone in his first few training sessions with his new club.
The feeling is positive that Asllani will be able to provide Simone Inzaghi with a real backup option to Brozovic during the upcoming campaign, but not only that, could also have the right qualities to back up Barella on the right of the midfield trio.
