Inter will likely have to pay forward Alexis Sanchez a severance payment in order to get his departure from the club over and done with.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that a severance payment arrangement now looks like by far the likeliest outcome as the Nerazzurri seek to terminate the 33-year-old’s contract by mutual consent.
Sanchez has one more year left on his current deal with Inter, but it has been clear for some time that the club do not see the Chilean as being part of the plans for next season.
There has been some interest in signing the forward, but he is not keen on a move to a team that he would consider to be a step down from Inter, whilst his wages have also been a sticking point.
Accordingly, with the Nerazzurri now pushing to get Sanchez’s future away from the club sealed more than ever, it appears extremely likely that a severance payment will be made to the 33-year-old.
