Striker Romelu Lukaku has made it very clear that he intends to stay at Inter well past the end of next season, and not just for the duration of his one-season loan from Chelsea.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the 29-year-old has made his intention of a return to the Nerazzurri on a long-term basis known.

A deal to sign Lukaku back from Chelsea on a permanent basis would never have been feasible for the Nerazzurri given the amount that the English team had paid for him last summer, but the Belgian pushed for the move to happen so the two clubs had to be creative with the structure of a deal.

The 29-year-old arrives on a paid loan deal, and the loan is officially set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, at which point the striker could theoretically return to Chelsea.

However, as far as the player is concerned, the plan is to remain at Inter for long after that point.
