Inter are set to save around €22 million in total wage costs between the gross wages of midfielder Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez once both leave the club.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that with Vidal’s departure already confirmed, Sanchez should soon follow him out the exit door and the total wage savings between the pair will be over €20 million for the club.

Negotiating the exit of Vidal was always fairly straightforward for the club because there was a clause in his deal which allowed the Nerazzurri to terminate his deal by paying a €4 million severance fee.

This was reduced to €3.5 million due to an agreement that the club would cooperate in not releasing the Chilean until he found a new club, as he worked out an agreement to join Flamengo.

Inter have offloaded Vidal’s wages, which had been set to rise from €6.5 million net per season to €9.5 million in the final year of his deal, or €12.5 million gross.

The club are set to do the same with Sanchez shortly, and while there is no clause in his contract which would make ending his deal as straightforward as was the case with Vidal, they are pushing to get it done.

Once Sanchez is out the door, his €9 million gross wages will be off the Nerazzurri’s books, meaning that they’ll have gotten rid of €22 million in wage costs by seeing the back of their two highest earners.
