Former Inter, Atalanta, and Brighton defender Ezequiel Schelotto feels that the possibility of Paulo Dybala joining Inter and playing alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack has been a popular idea among Argentines.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in yesterday’s print edition, Schelotto noted that many people in Argentine were interested in the idea that two prominent players from the national team could play together with the Nerazzurri.

Dybala’s future remains uncertain, and a move to Inter could still take place, although it now looks far from certain.

Had the 28-year-old made the switch, he would have arrived at a team in which two other Argentina internationals play in attack, in the form of Martinez and Joaquin Correa.

Now, even if Dybala were to sign for the Nerazzurri, the likelihood of the team playing regularly with an all-Argentine attack isn’t as great given the presence of Romelu Lukaku, although it remains a subject of discussion in his home country.

“Inter have many Argentines again,” Schelotti noted, “I thought he was moving there.”

“He’s a top player,” he continued of Dybala, “he did well at Juve and I don’t know what the reasons are for him now having found a new team yeat. If he wants to continue on the oath he started with Juve he can be very useful to Inter or Milan.:

“There’s been a lot of talk about Lautaro Martinez and Dybala together at the Nerazzurri,” he noted of how Argentines have received the transfer links, “it would also have been nice for Argentina fighting for the World Cup.”

“Right now I don’t think Dybala can go to Inter,” he continued, “there are already many great forwards. But in the transfer market you never know.”
