Young Inter defender Alessandro Fontanarosa feels that coach Simone Inzaghi is easing he and other Primavera players into life with the senior team as they work with the first team in preseason.

Speaking to InterTV after playing in yesterday’s friendly win over Lugano, the 19-year-old relayed what the coach’s instructions to him were and emphasized the importance of learning from senior teammates.

Fontanarosa is just one of the youngsters from the youth sector who have been given the opportunity to work with Inter’s first team as preseason training kicks off, and the young defender went one better by actually playing in a friendly for the team.

For him, the opportunity is about cautiously taking the step into the senior game without taking too many risks or overcomplicating things, and this was the message that he received from his coach Inzaghi to try and get the most out of this experience.

Fontanarosa said that Inzaghi told him to “Keep things simple, stay calm, understand the movements of the team, and learn from my teammates.”

He stated that “I’m very happy and I have to thank the club, the coach, my teammates, and the youth sector for helping me along this journey. We need to grow and improve, there’s still a long way to go.”

Asked if any particular player is an inspiration to him, Fontanarosa named “Bastoni, I hope to keep taking things from working with him in the preseason retreat.”

And of playing against the Nerazzurri’s strikers in training, he said that “Lukaku and Lautaro are two top strikers, when you play against them you can really get a measure of the level they’re at.”
