Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani has said that he has always been focused on Inter and he wants to win the Scudetto, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during an interview with DAZN, via FCInternews, new Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani spoke about how he is settling into the club and his thoughts when the opportunity arose.
He explained that he has been focused on Inter all of his life so it was an easy choice to make when the call came.
“I’ve always been focused only on Inter and as soon as I got the request I accepted immediately,” he said.
He was also asked what would satisfy him this season with Inter and he aimed for the top, saying he would like to win the Scudetto.
“The important thing is to bring something home. Honestly I would like to win the Scudetto. I chose Perisic’s number 14, he even wrote to wish me good luck and I’m happy. The number is also for my brother’s birthday.”
Kristjan Asllani described how it felt when he got the chance to sign his firt contract with Inter after the move from Empoli was agreed.
“At first I didn’t believe it. Then when I signed it was a wonderful emotion for me and my family. I am very happy.”
Something he will have to contend with is additional criticism and attention now that he is at a bigger club. He thinks he can handle it.
“I don’t have a lot of pressure. Although I am very critical of myself. I always watch the matches to understand where and in what I can improve.”
The Albanian also talked about his first few days at the club and what has impressed him the most since joining.
“These have been great days, the acclimatisation is going very well, we have been together for a few days and the boys have welcomed me very well: I am very happy.
“I’m not used to such a big sports centre. Then the boys, of course: I used to see them on television, now I play with them.”
He says that Danilo D’Ambrosio has been welcoming him the most: “These days we weren’t all there, but it was definitely Danilo D’Ambrosio a bit more than the others.
“But everyone, in general, is helping me to integrate: Darmian, Handanovic. The valuable advice the great ones give is to remain humble.”
Kristjan Asllani had his medical at the same time as Romelu Lukaku which he certainly enjoyed,
“Yes, it was the first time and we talked for half an hour at the medical centre: he is also giving me a big hand with the integration process.”
He has mainly been signed to be the backup to Marcelo Brozovic and the Croatian is a player that he admires.
“With the ball between his feet he is very strong. I’ve watched him throughout the whole league, admiring him. I can only learn from Brozovic. I can steal a lot from him and learn a lot.”
He also revealed that Simone Inzaghi has not spoken to him about his role yet and he thanked Empoli for his time there.
“The coach hasn’t told me anything yet, but I can play every role in the midfield. Last year at Empoli I played most of the time in front of the defence, but I can cover more roles. Physically I’m very well: since February I’ve played many games with Empoli and I have to thank coach Andreazzoli and president Corsi.”
