Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has said that he made a mistake when leaving Inter and this is his biggest challenge, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking whilst at the unveiling event for the new Inter shirts, via FCInter1908, the Belgian forward took some questions about his return to the club.

He left Inter last summer to rejoin Chelsea who he played for when he was much younger. The move did not go to plan as he did not fit into Thomas Tuchel’s plans.

He made that clear very early and has managed to force a return to Inter on a one-year loan deal. When asked what his toughest sporting challenge will be, he said that it will be this season because of the situation.

“The one right now. You know, I left, it was a mistake, didn’t I, Nico? What we do in the locker room and on the pitch, the relationships we have with each other, that’s really important. My hugs with Lautaro? I needed some love this morning! It’s also right for people to see that our team is really united.”

He also had some kind words for Inter as a club as he feels that they have given him a special opportunity to play at a higher level.

“Inter have given me the opportunity to play at a higher level in my career. I am really happy to wear this jersey, we hope to continue to grow like in the past years. We have to continue like this if we want to reach the goal.”
