Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani is still amazed at the growth his career has experienced in recent months to lead to him joining the ranks of the Nerazzurri’s midfield.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportItalia following the team’s 2-2 friendly draw with Monaco, a match in which he scored the equalizer to come back from 2-0 down, Asllani reflected on his progress and also stated the team’s aim to win the Serie A title next season.

Asllani officially joined Inter just a couple of months ago, but already the Albanian has been showing why he was the player they targeted to reinforce their midfield for the upcoming season.

The 20-year-old broke into Empoli’s first team over the second half of the season just gone following the departure of Samuele Ricci in January, and already he has found a place for himself in one of Serie A’s elite.

Asllani still has much of his career in front of him, but already he has taken several significant steps that suggest that he could have what it takes to compete at the top for seasons to come.

“In twelve months, practically a year and a half, I went from not playing in the Primavera to being where I am now,” the midfielder said.

“I work hard and try to always give my best,” he continued. “I’m very happy to train with the team every day, I have so much to learn from my teammates and try to do so as much as possible.”

Regarding his goals for the season, Asllani said that “On a personal level I just want to take it one match at a time, but we have a team goal, which is to win the Scudetto. That’s what we’re aiming and we’ll try to achieve it.”
