Inter-owned striker Martin Satriano is looking forward to taking his first serious steps in Serie A on loan with Empoli next season.

Speaking in a press conference at his unveiling as an Empoli player, the 20-year-old noted his happiness with his choice of club for next season, and that former Nerazzurri teammate Matias Vecino had spoken highly of the Tuscan club to him in recommended he join.

Satriano will join Empoli for next season where he will hope to trace the same path that Nerazzurri-owned striker Andrea Pinamonti did last season, turning his potential into concrete performances and goals.

The Uruguayan shone during his loan spell in the French top flight with Brest during the second half of last season, and now he will hope to enjoy a similar spell with Empoli.

The Tuscan club are known for developing young players into the level required for top-level Serie A clubs, and Satriano’s Uruagaya and former Nerazzurri teammate Vecino is among the players to have passed through their doors and gone on to bigger and better things in the Italian top flight.

“I discussed it with Vecino,” Satriano said of the loan move, “he spoke very highly to me about Empoli.”

“He played here for a season and enjoyed it a lot, so I had no doubts about accepting the move,” he continued.

Regarding his style of play, the Uruguayan stated that “I’m a striker, but I can play anywhere, even as a second striker, it’s not a problem.”

Of his experience on loan at Brest last campaign, Satriano stated that “I enjoyed the French league, it’s at a very high level. Here in Italy the style of football is more tactical, so it’s more difficult for a striker.”
