Former Inter midfielder Sulley Muntari has recalled his transfer to Inter and how Jose Mourinho first contacted him, according to a report in the Ghanaian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with GTV Sports Plus in Ghana, via FCInternews, Sulley Muntari discussed how he found himself leaving Premier League side Portsmouth to play for Inter.

The Ghanaian midfielder was playing in England in a successful Portsmouth team when Jose Mourinho contacted him in 2008 and asked him to come to Milan and be part of the Nerazzurri team.

The midfielder explained how simple the conversation was and how little persuading he needed.

“I had come home from training when the phone rang, it was José Mourinho. He asked me ‘how are you?’, I answered ‘fine’. He asked ‘do you want to play for me?’ and I said ‘sure’, and then he said ‘well see you in Milan’. My agent and I packed our bags and flew to Milan, where I signed. There’s not much to say.”

It was certainly the current decision to make because, within two years of being at Inter, he had managed to win the treble, taking Serie A, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia in one season.

He ended up making 66 appearances for Inter before a couple of loans and an eventual move to AC Milan.
