Inter are looking at a number of players as possible reinforcements in defense following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia this summer.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who name Borussia Dortmund’s Dan-Axel Zagadou, Monaco’s Guillermo Maripan, and Valencia’s Mouctar Diakhaby as players on the Nerazzurri’s radar in their search for a defender.

Bremer has always been the priority target for Inter, but Ranocchia’s departure on a free transfer to Monza means that the defensive depth would be a little light if the Brazilian arrives and Milan Skriniar departs.

Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is very much in Inter’s thinking as a like-for-like replacement for Skriniar, but should they miss out on the 24-year-old they will still sign a defender.

Feyenoord’s Marcos Senesi is one player on the club’s list, but the Argentine is more of a left-sided option and has little familiarity playing in a back three, so he would not be a stylistically natural replacement for Ranocchia at the heart of the defense.

Zagadou is available on a free transfer after his contract with Dortmund expired, but the likes of Maripan and Diakhaby are also serious options.
