Inter did not look nearly ready for the start of the season with their sloppy performance against Monaco yesterday, but showed their fighting spirit to come back and earn a draw and there are signs that they are on the right track.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri looked well off the pace but that a few key individuals shone in particular in the friendly match.

Inter played out their second friendly of the preseason against Monaco, with several players getting out on the pitch for the first time since returning to training.

A number of players had only had a few days to prepare and several new signings are still being bedded in, and it showed in how the team played.

The Nerazzurri went in 2-0 down at halftime and deserved little better, but in the second half they showed that even in a friendly match they still have the motivation to push for a result.

In the end, coach Simone Inzaghi will see how much work he has to do in the result, but this is the purpose of preseason, and the Corriere argues that in the end the team look to be headed in the right direction with almost a month still left to prepare.
