Inter’s preseason preparations are now well underway, but they will know that this is only the beginning of a long and gruelling process as they look to win the Serie A title back from city rivals AC Milan.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who argue that at this moment in time it is still far from clear which of the two Milan clubs are best-placed for the coming season.

Inter’s ambition will undoubtedly be to go one better than last season and win the Scudetto after having lost out to the Rossoneri on the final day of last campaign.

At this point, the Nerazzurri have only taken their first couple steps into their preparations to try and unseat the Rossoneri at the top, and a draw against Monaco in yesterday’s friendly clash suggests that there are signs of life but still a great deal of work to be done.

Inter have already done significant remodelling in the transfer market with no signs of slowing down, and the return of Romelu Lukaku on loan could particularly shift the balance.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have yet to get their most important transfer business done and could well head into the next season an improve team from the side that won the title last time around should they reinforce with the right signings.

Juventus, Atalanta, Napoli, and others are also lurking in the background, and at this point the sense is that the work has barely gotten started.
