The inability to find an agreement with Alexis Sanchez is making it impossible for Inter to move ahead with their plans for the transfer window, according to Italian media.
Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it outline the situation, in which the Chilean is “holding hostage” the Nerazzurri’s plans to complete their last few signings as he remains on their wage bill for next season despite not being in their plans.
Inter had a very active June in terms of incoming signings, addressing key areas throughout the squad by getting their business done early, but this momentum has not continued into July.
The Nerazzurri had hoped to follow up the business that they’ve already done by completing deals to sign Paulo Dybala and Bremer this month, but the former looks to be headed to Roma and their pursuit of the latter is in increasing jeopardy.
One reason behind this has been that they have been unable to find a resolution to Sanchez’s situation, with the 33-year-old remaining their highest earner and in no hurry to agree a termination of his contract by mutual consent, even with substantial severance pay.
Sanchez is understandably looking to resolve his own future by finding a new club that he is happy with before he moves on from Inter, but in the meantime it has been all but impossible for the Nerazzurri to get a move done for Dybala.
The Argentine has lost patience despite having been keen to join Inter and is now close to making the switch to Roma, and this could just be the beginning of a disappointing July for the Nerazzurri should they also miss out on Bremer.
With Sanchez remaining at the club and several key targets appearing more and more out of reach, Inter will feel that their transfer window has gone off the rails somewhat after a very encouraging start.
