Midfielder Matias Vecino is a target for Lazio now that he has left Inter on a free transfer ahead of next season.

This according to SportItalia transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla, who reports, via FCInter1908, that the 30-year-old is interested in the move and will wait to see if the Biancocelesti offer him a deal before he considers offers from abroad.

Vecino left the Nerazzurri at the end of his contract last month as he is no longer a part of the project, and there have been a number of teams who have stepped forward with interest in signing him.

The Uruguayan’s former coach from his Empoli days Maurizio Sarri has made him a target, and according to Pedulla, the Biancocelesti are thinking about a move.

Vecino’s hope is that this will happen, and so for the time being he has put other possibilities on hold as he waits for Sarri and Lazio.

“Matias Vecino is on Lazio’s radar,” Pedulla said. “The news is that in the last few hours talks have resumed with the midfielder, who’s available on a free transfer.”

“Vecino has a couple of offers from abroad, but for the time being he’s waiting,” he continued. “Sarri has always been an admirer, he could represent a possible solution for them in midfield, irrespective of their continued interest in Ilic and a possible departure of Luis Alberto.”

“One thing is certain,” Pedulla stated, “Vecino is waiting to see what happens with Lazio before he considers other offers.”
