Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Italiano is pushing for his club to keep hold of defender Nikola Milenkovic, who could stay and extend his contract despite transfer links to Inter among other clubs.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that it cannot be ruled out that the 24-year-old will extend his current deal past the end of June 2023.

Inter have identified Milenkovic as one of their main targets to replace Milan Skriniar in defense should the Slovakian be sold to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Meanwhile, the Serb has also been marked out as a target for a number of other top clubs in Serie A.

Milenkovic has been the subject of transfer interest in the past, with West Ham United having pushed for his signature last summer, but in that instance he was convinced to stay and extend his deal, and he could do the same once again.
