Former Inter head coach Corrado Orrico believes that while Inter have made improvements during the January transfer window, Simone Inzaghi is not yet a coach proven to be capable of taking them to the top.
Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the former coach gave his thoughts on the current coach and expressed uncertainty that he will be the man to lead the Nerazzurri at the highest level.
Inzaghi enjoyed a mixed but ultimately fairly successful first season in charge of Inter, especially considering the expectations before the start of the campaign, but the team stumbled in key moments to allow city rivals AC Milan to win the title.
The club have reinforced the team during the summer transfer window and he has had yet another preaseason to mould the team in his own image, but Orrico is unsure of how much progress will be made under the former Lazio coach.
“They’ve strengthened the team for Inzaghi,” he said, “but I don’t know how far he will be able to lead it. It’s a strong team, with top players in every position.”
