Inter CEO Beppe Marotta had asked Paulo Dybala to wait just a little longer before deciding on a move to a new club, but the Argentine finally gave up hope on Marotta and the Nerazzurri and settled for Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri executive had asked the 28-year-old’s representatives for just a few more days in his last contact with them, but they ultimately declined.

Marotta’s warm personal relationship with Dybala has long been one of the key reasons behind Inter’s pursuit of Dybala, which has seen them as the frontrunners for his signature since his departure from Juventus was confirmed.

The Nerazzurri have not been in a position to get a deal done for the Argentine since the arrival of Romelu Lukaku was confirmed, but Marotta has always asked for patience, and the player and his camp have given it as they always prioritized Inter.

Marotta and Inter failed to get the ground prepared to sign Dybala even with less than a month to go before the new season began, and their chances of signing him wore thin along with the Argentine’s patience.

The CEO had continued to ask for the player to wait, but finally he did not, and with a convincing offer from Jose Mourinho he is now ready to make the switch to the Giallorossi.
