Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that the reason why Inter failed to sign Paulo Dybala was purely financial rather than for any reason regarding the Argentine’s style of play on the pitch.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the journalist gave his thoughts on the 28-year-old’s imminent move to Roma, and made it clear that in his view, the only reason that the Nerazzurri did not wrap up a deal for him is that they did not have the cash available.

Inter had been closely linked with Dybala since it was confirmed during the spring that he would leave Juventus on a free transfer, and even before then.

As soon as it became clear that the 28-year-old would not be extending his contract with the Bianconeri, the contacts between he and the Nerazzurri had been ongoing, showing a clear desire on the part of the club to add him to their team.

However, the negotiations ultimately came to nothing and now Dybala looks to be on the verge of making the move to the Giallorossi.

“It’s a great signing and at a reasonable price,” he said of the signing for Roma. “He arrives without a transfer fee and with high wages, but not stratospheric.”

He continued that “For me it’s not true that Inter didn’t need Dybala. This was the only time to sign him and the problem was never a technical one, but they couldn’t afford him.”
