Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi told the club that the signing of Paulo Dybala was not necessary following the arrival of Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri coach decided against prioritizing the Argentine’s signing as he thought that the attack was already strong enough with the return of Lukaku.
Inter signed Lukaku on a one-season loan at the end of last month, with the player having pushed for the deal and Inzaghi’s desire to work with the Belgian also a driving force behind the move.
Dybala remained a target, but with so many forwards now in the squad, including a player that the coach backs to lead the line next season in Lukaku and a player who hit over twenty goals in Serie A last season in the form of Lautaro Martinez, his arrival was not as much of a priority.
On the other hand, the coach is very nervous about the defensive situation particularly with Torino’s Bremer looking set for Juventus and also isn’t yet convinced with Robin Gosens as a long-term replacement for Ivan Perisic.
