Inter failed to sign targets Paulo Dybala and Bremer this summer because the green light for the moves was not given by owners Suning who wanted to see sales made first.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who claim that the Nerazzurri’s ownership were never willing to invest in Dybala and Bremer without money first coming in from sales.
Inter were in talks with both Dybala and Bremer for months, and both players made clear to the club that the Nerazzurri were their first choice if the club could get a deal done to bring them in.
This proved, however, to be a bridge too far as between Dybala’s wages and the transfer fee that it would take to sign Bremer, the investment would have needed a go-ahead from the owners of the cash-strapped club, a go-ahead which was never given.
Both Dybala and Bremer waited for some time for an indication that they would be able to sign the contract that would make them an Inter player, but without the authorization from Suning this never arrived and they made other choices.
