Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has said that he has been told Inter intend to keep Milan Skriniar this summer, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking whilst on Telelombardia, via FCInter1908, the journalist revealed that he has been on the phone with people at the club and the indication is that Inter want Milan Skriniar to be a part of the team next season.
That being said, it does not mean that Inter would say no if a team like Paris Saint Germain were to come in and finally make the offer of €70 million that Inter have been asking for.
“From the phone calls made this morning by Inter I was told that the intention, at the moment, is to keep Skriniar. But it is one thing to say that the player has been taken off the market, it is another to say that there is the will to keep him. If at €70 million he staggers, it means that the risk of losing him is always there.”
The journalist then talked about how he thinks that the Slovakian defender ought to b given some special treatment now so that he can see Inter really do want to keep him.
The best way to do that would of course be a new contract but the captain’s armband is also a suggestion.
“In my opinion, Skriniar must now be put back on a pedestal, as he has been a bit mistreated. He was put there with the prospect of being sold. Now, you don’t just have to tell him you want to keep him, you have to prove it.
“He is coming back from a small injury, but I would like to see him on the pitch in the next friendly, maybe even with the captain’s armband on his arm. In short, you have to show him that Inter care, because he deserves it.
“If you believe in him, you bless him no matter what. Seeing how things went with Bremer, I’d say: ‘OK, we’ll keep him, now let’s see what to do with the others’. I repeat: I would give him the armband and in my opinion Handanovic would also understand as an intelligent person, knowing that it would be a gesture that would be good for Inter.”
