Chinese businesses such as Suning are really struggling to find success whilst owning European football clubs, according to a report in the Italian print media today.
As has been reported by Tuttosport today, there is not a great track record for Chinese-owned clubs in the major European leagues since so many people had the same idea towards the end of the 2010s to buy football clubs.
Chinese football poured around $2.5 billion into world football between 2015 and 2017 and many clubs were brought by Chinese business people or consortiums.
Inter, AC Milab and Atletico Madrid were some of the most high-profile examples. In terms of the Premier League, only one team is still controlled by Chinese ownership and that is Wolverhampton Wanderers.
There are some clubs in the English second tier that are either fully or part-owned by Chinese people such as Cardiff, Reading, West Bromwich Albion and Birmingham City although the latter will still be sold.
