Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti has said that Inter must protect Milan Skriniar now and he agrees with the fans who have made it clear that he should stay, according got a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nicola Berti explained that he thinks keeping hold of Milan Skriniar makes the Nerazzurri the favourites to win the Scudetto next season and there would be big problems if he was sold.

“It seems to me that everything is going well, although it is now very important to protect Milan Skriniar. With him we are among the favourites in Serie A, but in the event of his departure we would need two defenders and the problem is precisely finding replacements who are up to his standards. It’s not easy at all.”

There was a recent protest banner created by the Curva Nord supporters group which urged the club not to sell Milan Skriniar.

Nicola Berti was asked if he agreed with the fans who made the banner and he said: “Yes, I think it’s a normal and acceptable protest. Even I, as a fan, am worried that Skriniar might go to Paris Saint-Germain.”

Nicola Berti was then asked if there is a different player in the squad that he would be willing to see leave if it raised the €60 million of profit that Inter need to finish the market with.

“If we are talking about such high figures, it means that players like Bastoni, Nicolò Barella or Lautaro Martinez have to be considered. So, absolutely not! It would be even worse, I’d go and protest under the headquarters too.”
