Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has said that there are not many defenders at Gleison Bremer’s level and the Bianconeri have a duty to win the Scudetto, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, Max Allegri addressed the press ahead of the Juventus friendly against Guadalajara in Las Vegas.

He started by discussing the general feeling around the club as they head into a season where they need to ensure they are at least involved in the title race.

He explained that the Bianconeri feel that they are obliged to win the title this season, saying: “As always we’re working to hit all the season’s targets. Very important players have arrived, some experienced and some younger.

“This will be the second year for us and this is a good starting point. We have a duty to win the Scudetto, especially after finishing last season without a trophy for the first time in 10 years.”

Juventus have been very busy this summer and have brought in Angel Di Maria and Paul Pogba, and they hijacked Inter’s deal for Gleison Bremer from Torino after they sold Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich.

Max Allegri rubbed salt in the wounds by talking about the quality of Gleison Bremer: “Pogba and Di Maria are extraordinary, then we have a youngster like Gatti and others that I have to evaluate.

“I am very happy with the arrival of Bremer, he has the characteristics we were looking for and is very physical. There aren’t many defenders of that level around and the club did very well to replace De Ligt promptly.

“I am satisfied, but now let’s think about the games, because there is less than a month to go until the start of the season.”
