Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi could decide to test out a formation with both Kristjan Asllani and Marcelo Brozovic playing as part of a midfield double pivot in today’s friendly match against Lens.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the coach is considering using the match as an opportunity for some tactical experiments, particularly tinkering with the midfield.

Asllani has been signed from Empoli with the primary purpose of giving Brozovic a stylistically similar backup in the squad, something which was lacking last season.

However, the Albanian’s standout displays in preseason have led the coach to consider a more prominent role for him next season than just as a deputy for Brozovic.

In the coach’s usual three-man midfield setup, there is room for just one regista like Brozovic or Asllani, but the coach could see how the team plays when both of the pair play as central midfielders together.
